First love is the sweetest....Jax and Jacey are everyone's favorite couple, even though they've barely ever kissed.
In kindergarten, Jax pulled out a chair for Jacey and swept the play dough off so that she would sit down next to him and he's been carving out ways for them to stick together ever since. Though everyone in their conservative, small beach town sees them as a couple, they're not, exactly. Because while they both want more, they've agreed to wait.
Jacey works hard, respects her elders and follows every spoken and silent rule about fitting in and doing the ‘right’ thing. She doesn't dare give the gossips more fodder from her family, so she's kept Jax firmly in the friendzone. It takes a hurricane for her to realize timing is everything, but months later she’s still too afraid to put her heart on the line and tell him how she feels. Then plans change – hers for summer and his for college, and Jacey needs to make the most of the time she and Jax have left, or stay stuck in the land of missed beginnings forever

What inspired you to write your first book?
I kept getting asked to help with projects that involved dolphins, and I realized that there was a much bigger story that I wanted to tell.
Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?
Yes, that it’s important to have roots and wings. You need to know where you come from and what your values are, but still be open to new things.
What books have most influenced your life most?
I love books that allow me to travel to new places. For a long time I read everything I could get my hands on about Tsarist Russia. Then it was Native American Tribes.
What book are you reading now?
Mathilda by Roald Dahl (with my kids)
Do you enjoy writing girl characters or boy characters the most?
I really like writing boy characters. Jax really wants his own POV for this book. He won’t stop talking to me.
Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest?
Tons! I like Marissa Carmel, Leah Raeder, KK Hendin
Name one entity that you feel supported you outside of family members.
I have three really close friends that are so completely supportive of my dreams. They read everything first, and have never doubted I could do this.
Do you recall how your interest in writing originated?
I always used to write stories as a little girl and all growing up, but I was really in denial for a long time that I could do it professionally.
Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?
I often find it hard to sit still. I am trying to embrace editing more, but I really like the thrill of new words better.
Who is your favorite author and what is it that really strikes you about their work?
Judy Blume. She’s so honest, even with subjects that others find taboo. And yet, all her books and characters still have so much heart.
Where would you like to travel someday to do a book signing?
Australia
What was the hardest part of writing your book?
Revisions. This started out really fluffy, but in trying to develop more three-dimensional characters, I raised a lot of real concerns that weren’t there to begin with.
Did you learn anything from writing your book and what was it?
CLICKS has so much science, a lot of in depth detail about dolphins, the environment, and Surf Carnivals. I love doing research, so I think that’s fun.

Read and Write as much as possible.

Review:
“Jellybean Kisses” By Amy Evans is a cute little tale. It is a dazzling (yes we should all know that I love this word) romance. “Jellybean Kisses” is a very short read but it is excellent. I don’t think anyone would be disappointed. Jacey and Jax are best friends. They have been inseparable since they were in kindergarten. This book is really all about the beginning of a relationship. I do have to say that Jacey had a lot of annoying moments. She seemed to struggle a lot in figuring out what she truly wanted. The Jellybean Kisses scene was really cute. I believe this is supposed to be a start of a serial series so I look forward to what is to come. The one major bummer was that the story ended too soon.
