Book Review: The Last Time I Saw You by Eleanor Moran

“The Last Time I Saw You” by Eleanor Moran was a heartfelt tale about two best friends. Olivia gets a phone call of a lifetime and not the good kind. She finds out that her best friend from college has been killed in a car crash. Olivia didn’t think that Sally considered herself to be friends with Olivia anymore after they had a terrible falling out, but Olivia discovers that Sally named her daughter after her.

“The Last Time I Saw You” is told in flashbacks. Olivia tries to remember her past with Sally and try to find clues to Sally’s tragic life. Sally had many secrets and she wasn’t completely open to sharing them. Olivia goes on a journey to try to figure out Sally’s secrets. As Livvy and Williiam piece together Sally’s life, they start to realize that they may have never known the Sally. Instead they feel lost at trying to figure out who she really was.

I think Moran did a great job at writing “The Last Time I Saw You.” I am just not sure that the novel was really for me. I felt extremely bored and like the story took too long to take off. Wants it started to get interesting it just didn’t seem to stay there for me. I believe that Moran is a good writer, I just think that “The Last Time I Saw You” could have gone in a better direction and even been a little more fast paced. I think there could have been a lot more growth with “The Last Time I Saw You.” I think it was a good novel as far as trying to figure show how someone can get over the loss of someone that is very dear to them. This novel explores friendship and love. I think the ideas were fantastic, I just wish the novel was a little more fast paced. I think this would be a great rainy day read or maybe a relaxing beach read for someone.
