Book Review: Cinderella's Dress by Shonna Slayton

"Cinderella's Dress" was a cute new spin on the classic fairytale. The idea that there are these magical dress that Cinderella once wore is quite unique. If only these dress really existed I would love to see how gorgeous they are in person.

Kate comes from a line of keepers. Women that kept the dresses hidden and safe. Kate finds out that she is suppose to be the next keeper, so she has to decide if she wants the job or not before she goes through the ceremony. In the meantime Elsie, Kate's great aunt, is sick and so Kate is watching the dresses for Elsie. When Kate comes up with the idea for a new window display at Harm0n-Craig. Kate wants nothing else than to be the girl that designs window displays but this is ttechnically considered mans work. Kate comes up with a theme to do Cinderella and uses the Cinderella dresses as the dresses for the event. When some men come after the dresses Kate isn't completely sure on what to do.

I have to say that I really liked Kate. I think Kate was very well developed in the story. I felt like I could connect with Kate and truly get to know her. Kate started out at this girl that hated being a model and was only modeling because that is what her mom wanted ot do. As the story went on I was able to find out what Kate's dreams where and what she wanted to do with he rlife. Then when the dresses and Elsie enter her life, Kate has to decide whether or not she believes Elsie. I think Kate does a lot of growing up from the beginning ot the end.

I was disappointed though that the reader didn't get the same opportunity with the other characters. I felt like I really didn't get to know any other character besides Kate. The characters were there and they talked I just didn't feel like they were fleshed out very well. One of the characters sends Kate a letter and then that is the last time we here from that person, so I was a little disappointed that not everyone had a conclusion in the story.

I think the plot and the storyline were both excellent. I really enjoyed this story.  I think it was a great sequel of sorts to the original story of Cinderella. I love the fact that it was a little historical since Kate's story was taking place during World War II. I think this is an excellent addition to the Engtanled Teen family and I hope other readers will enjoy it.
