Book Review: Shattered Veil by Tracy E. Banghart

"Shattered Veil" by Tracy E. Banghart was quite boring to me. I am slightly ashamed to admit it but I didn't even finish the story. (This is rare for me - to not finish). I see all of these four and five star reviews and wonder if this is a case of "It's not you, it is me" situations because I really was less than impressed with this book.

Aris loves flying and she is one of best flyers in the business. There is a war going on in Atalanta and Aris is approached by a military man to recruit her to join a secret army in the military. Aris boyfriend Calix will be selected for the military instead of the health occupation that everyone thought he would be joining. This military man tells Aris this information, so that she would consider joining the secret army. Aris decides to join so she can be close to Calix since their promising is being postponed because he is now part of the military.

I was so completely bored the first 150 pages in that I just gave up. I couldn't connect with the characters and I didn't see any climax to the story coming soon so I figured I'd rather waste my time on something else. I felt like the writing was mediocre at best. There was some major lack of world building. I personally really couldn't get into this book. I tried so hard to follow in love with the characters and it just wasn't working for me. Part of me wonders if this book would make a better movie than a story. Just keep in mind that just because this book wasn't for me doesn't it mean that someone else won't like it. Like I stated earlier there were a lot of four and five star reviews so the majority of people liked it.
