Dazzled by Books

"Love Arrives in Pieces" by Betsy St. Amant was well written but I found the characters to be lacking. They didn't seem to have good chemistry at all. I think the interior monologue was in the story so much. I feel like as the reader I would go page after page of interior monologue in between the actual conversation going on. I just felt like I really couldn't get to know these characters. They weren't fleshed out like they should have been. This maybe would have made a good novella instead of a full-blown novel because I feel like there really wasn't enough story to keep the reader interested.
