I love fairytale retellings. I immediately get sucked into them. When I saw this one on netgalley, I had to request it right away. Kat is supposed to cleaning the attic when she comes across some old picture books. When she accidentally rips one of the books, she ends up getting stuck inside the book. Kat is stuck in the world of Cinderella, so in order to find out if she can make it home, she has to play out the story. Something seems to be wrong because Kat is one of the step-sister sand the prince seems to be taking an interest in her. On top of that Cinderella has another family.
I think Kat is such a great character in this book. I really liked the fact that this wasn't the typical Cinderella retelling. Kat is very much a modern teenager who is now thrown into a Victorian era. It was fun to read about how Kat tried to figure out how she was supposed to be playing her role since the story is a bit different from what she was used too. This is definitely an author I would read again.
