Fire Falling by Elise Kova

"Fire Falling" by Elise Kova was definitely a much better book. Everyone is always worried about whether or not the second book would be the sophomore slump book and I think Kova was able to overcome this. Kova really got into Vhalla's character in this book. Vhalla gained so much confidence in this book. It was so great. It made me happy to see Vhalla to finally be a confident character.

Kova's writing is fantastic. She did a great job writing this book. Everything sounds great. I loved her style and how she tells the story. I think "Fire Falling" had a way better pace than "Air Awakens." I think the characters till need some work though.

Some of the characters are just so shallow and they don't have a lot depth to them. These characters including Vhalla need more depth and life to them. Larel was the worst of it. Larel seemed to just be brought in for Vhalla to dump all of her problems on that drives me nuts. I want there to be more to Larel. For a reader to fall in love with these characters, they need some life to them.

Let's talk about the ending. I don't mind cliffhangers, but I hate when I feel like the single book has a whole was not wrapped up and that is how I feel about this one. I feel like nothing about the book was wrapped up, it just reads the reader hanging until they get the next book. This kind of ending is not one that I like because there is no closure at all.

I think this series still has a lot of potential and I am looking forward to seeing where it all goes. Hopefully I can get my hands on "Earth's End" soon.
