Me Before you by Jojo Meyers

"Me Before You" by Jojo Moyes is a heartbreaking story. If you need a good cry, this is definitely the book for you.

Louisa got laid off and now she has to try to find a job to help support her family. Unfortunately, Louisa doesn't have a ton of life skills to help her get a job. She ends of taking on a job to be the caregiver of a man who is now quadriplegic.

Previously this man was a thrill seeking playboy. He lived a very carefree life because he made enough money that supported his living habits. Now he is living with his parents since he needs people to take care of him. Will, the quadriplegic, hates his life. He doesn't want to have people take care of him. He won't give this new challenge that he has a chance. Will has given up on his life.

Since Will is so miserable, it seems like it is his goal to try to make everyone else feel just as miserable. Louisa is determined to not let Will change her mood. She sticks her ground even when Will makes fun of her. Louisa doesn't want to fail at this job because she is running out of options and doesn't know what she would do. Her family relies on her income to be coming in.

Louisa ends up finding out that Will wants to go to Switzerland to die. He would like to use a medical assisted suicide program. Will promised his parents that he would give them another six months and then he is going to Switzerland. The parents agree to this plan hoping that six months would give them enough time to change Will's mind. Now Lou has made it her goal to try to change his mind.

I really loved Lou's character. She is so passionate about life. I like how Will encourages Lou to do things outside of her comfort zone. The chemistry between Lou and Will was amazing. They were always bantering and fighting and I just loved how they dealt with each other. I can't think of two better characters to interact with each other.

"Me Before You" by Jojo Moyes is such a great book. This is one that I couldn't put down. I just had to finish it. As much as I don't care for the outcome of this story, I still think it ended the way it was supposed too. This is the way the author meant it to be. I enjoyed the time that I had with Lou and Will. They will definitely have a special place in many people's hearts including my own. Moyes does a fabulous job with the writing in this book. I couldn't help but be compelled to read "Me Before You."
