Book Review: When We Collided by Emery Lord

"When We Collided" by Emery Lord is a fantastic read about mental illness. Lord's novel is excellent and it truly shows her writing talent. She is a deep and powerful writer.

Jonah and Vivi have such a beautiful story. These characters have many issues going on in their lives. These topics are so important. Grief, depression, mental illness are all issues that people have to deal with on a day by day basis. Lord's talent in making this story so realistic is amazing. I love how real this story feels. This book can be very powerful. These are characters are raw and filled with so much emotion.

Jonah has a brig family and he ended up having to grow up fast in order to take care of the little siblings. That poor boy wanted things to be better for his siblings. He works so hard to keep things quite about his family situation. Vivi had the opposite situation. It is just her and her mom. Her mom is pretty easy going but she is protective of Vivi too. I really liked Jonah and Vivi's interactions. Their summer romance was filled with many highs and lows. They each needed something from the other and they were able to learn from each other.

"When We Collided" is a great story. It has wonderful characters. There are many life lessons to learn. "When We Collided" is completely fantastic and I think everyone should have a copy of this book to read.
