The Writing
"A Torch Against the Night" by Sabaa Tahir was so much better than "An Ember in the Ashes." There is no sophomore slump for Sabaa Tahir. Tahir creates an amazing world for her readers. "A Torch Against the Night" has one of the best worlds in YA right now.
I think Tahir is a great story writer. She brings perfectly paced action scenes and so much tension. I love Tahir's story. Tahir knows hot to captivate her audience.
I'm Addicted!
"A Torch Against the Night" picks up where we left off in "An Ember in the Ashes," which makes things nice for the reader. One can easily immerse themselves back into the story without a need for a recap or catch up. Jumping back into Laia, Elias, and Helene's story was seamless. Elias and Laia are focused on trying to save Darin.
The fighting is brutal. Everyone is fighting dirty and characters worse nightmares are coming true. IF you have your favorites than you are definitely going to stress for their lives. These characters are fighting for their lives and to hold their own. It was extremely hard to put this book down because I needed to know what was going to happen next.
Helen's perspective! Oh My Goodness!!
I didn't know how much we needed Helene's perspective until it was presented to me in "A Torch Against the Night." I fell in love with Helene's perspective. She is dealing with so much. In some ways I think Helene got the short straw. Reading her point of view was eye-opening for me. I really got to know Helene's character. Getting the chance to get to know Helene is totally worth the read. She has many difficult decisions to make and my heart ached for her.
"A Torch Against the Night" is a fabulous read. I really enjoyed getting to visit this world and these characters again. I am looking forward to more.
