This is my first Neil Gaiman book. The Sleeper and The Spindle by Neil Gaiman is a retelling of Sleeping Beauty. the illustrations are beautiful, weird and odd, but beautiful. I am slightly disappointed with this beautiful book. This is definitely a romance free book. It has a bit of a girl power underlining to it.
I think most people believed that this was going to be a graphic novel but it is not. It reminds me of a little kid story book that isn't for little kids. The reader doesn't get a chance to know the characters well. Obviously, I was a bit disappointed that I didn't' get a chance to know any of the characters and that is what I always look forward to the most. Maybe my next Neil Gaiman book will be better.
