Fairest by Marissa Meyer

It took me awhile to read Fairest by Marissa Meyer because I wasn't sure if I could feel sympathetic towards Levana. I also wasn't sure if I wanted to know her story. After reading the new graphic novel Wires and Nerves by Marissa Meyer, I decided I wanted to get to know Levana more. I was ready.

Fairest was amazing. I was so surprised at the content that I got. I felt so bad for everything Levana went through. Now this didn't mean I liked her because she is still the villain that I love to hate but this book gave me a new understanding for this unliked character. As the reader we were able to get a lot of background information on Levana in a small amount of time. I think all of it is extremely relevant to the other characters. We even got to know little Winter and little Selene.

I liked the information we got to know about Queen Channery too. Channery was an awful sister but it seemed like she could have been a good mother if she was given more of a chance. Channery was never going to be a good ruler but I wish she could have gotten the chance to be a good mom. I really loved this background information and I think Fairest is definitely worth reading.
