Dazzled by Books

Review:

The Takedown by Corrie Wang is so good. I was quite surprised at how much I enjoyed this book. I was intrigued right away about a book raising an issue to social media. I spend way too much on social media. Not only do I work in social media for work but I am also a blogger and do plenty of my own social media. There is so many situation problems that arise now that our whole lives are online. We live in a world where there is so much lack of privacy because everything is in an online universe.

Kyla is the popular girl at school. She is the "A" typical mean girl. No one likes her. Kyla is oblivious to the world around her and she walks around like she owns the school. So when a forged sex video gets released into the social media universe, the entire student body turns against her including her best friends. No one seems to believe Kyla when she says that it is fake. This book shows some real life problems. If something bad is said about a girl she gets shamed but the boy doesn't. I see this happen more often than not. Why does the girl have to go through all the horror and the boys get off free.

I really enjoyed Kyla's growth in this book. In the beginning I wasn't sure if I was going to like her. I am not a huge fan of the whole mean girl trope but this one spoke to me because of the fact that it included not only regular bullying by cyber-bullying also. This book covers a lot of topics that I think people forget to consider or think about. We live in a digital age and I think Wang brings all these points to  the light. I really enjoyed this book and I think everyone should give it a chance and read it.
