Saint Anything by Sarah Dessen

Saint Anything by Sarah Dessen is so good. I really enjoyed this book. I felt like I could really relate to Sydney and what she was going through. Sydney is struggling because her older brother is in jail and she feels guilty for all the mistakes that he has made. To get away from all the rumors and pity, Sydney ends up changing schools and making new friends.

Sydney's new group of friends are quite odd but at the same time they are pretty amazing. Sydney makes a new girlfriend, meets a wonderful boy that she wants to be her boyfriend, but at the same time she still has to deal with the drama of her family. Then there is Ames. Ames is Peyton's best friend. Peyton is Sydney's brother. Ames gives Sydney the creeps and she can't quite put her finger on why. Sydney's parents trust Ames whole heartedly which leaves Sydney in some tough situations.

I think this book is about self discovery, finding forgiveness, standing up for yourself, and also finding the place where you belong. The story started out a bit slow but I felt like it definitely redeemed itself when the characters started to develop more. Dessen is an amazing writer and I really enjoy her books. Saint Anything is definitely one of my favorites. Saint Anything is definitively more dark than other Dessen books. It still has a bit of a cheery ending though so just wait for it.
