The Last Namsara by Kristen Ciccarelli is so good. Asha is the daughter of the Draskor King. Asha does not have your typical princess life, she is a dragon slayer. She is the Iskari and wears the scars on her face for it. People are afraid of her. Asha is cursed to make the wrongs of her past right. If Asha can unlock her past, she may be able to discover the truth about her life.
I don't know about you, but when dragons are mentioned, I immediately want to read that book. This is a book that hooks you right away. The Last Namsara starts out with telling a local folk lore about the Namsara and the Iskari. It is quite the devastating story but it explains to the reader that Asha being known by the Iskari name is not a good thing.
Asha is being forced to right the wrongs of her past by hunting dragons. No mater how many dragons she kills, she is never on balanced ground. All Asha wants to do is continue to tell the old stories even though she isn't supposed too.
The Last Namsara is a whirlwind. I really enjoyed this book. The story is definitely a redemption story. Asha doesn't even know the truth of herself. She never bothered to learn more about herself.
I found that I wanted Ciccarelli to take more risks in her writing. The series has a pretty powerful plot twist that sets book two up perfectly. I am looking forward to the next book. This is a dragon book that you should add to your must read list.
