Instant Karma by Marissa Meyer

Chronic overachiever Prudence Barnett is always quick to cast judgment on the lazy, rude, and arrogant residents of her coastal town. Her dreams of karmic justice are fulfilled when, after a night out with her friends, she wakes up with the sudden ability to cast instant karma on those around her.

Pru giddily makes use of the power, punishing everyone from public vandals to mean gossips, but there is one person on whom her powers consistently backfire: Quint Erickson, her slacker of a lab partner. Quint is annoyingly cute and impressively noble, especially when it comes to his work with the rescue center for local sea animals.

When Pru resigns herself to working at the rescue center for extra credit, she begins to uncover truths about baby otters, environmental upheaval, and romantic crossed signals—not necessarily in that order. Her newfound karmic insights reveal how thin the line is between virtue and vanity, generosity and greed, love and hate . . . and fate.

Book Review:

Instant Karma by Marissa Meyer is such a cute story. I adored this one immediately. This was definitely different from anything else I have read by Meyer. She did such a good job with this cute sweet romance novel. Prudence Daniels was definitely a bit annoying but I grew to love her in the end. She finds out that she has some form of power were she can grant instant karma but then she finds that it won't work on the one person she thinks should get bad karma and that is Quint. Quint is always late and behind on homework and Pro is definitely type A personality so they just don't mess well together. I wouldn't say that this is an enemies to lover book. I really liked the realization that Pro has as she learns more about others in this book. Pro grows as a character and I really enjoy that. What really drove this book for me though was the interactions between Pro and Quint. These two were such joy when they were together and it made my day. It you don't mind contemporary romance with little bit of magic check out Instant Karma. It is a fun book.
