My First Crush and Taste the Heat

One sexy fire captain. One Cajun chef. One combustible kitchen…

When chef Colby Robicheaux returned home to New Orleans to save her family restaurant, the last person she expected to reconnect with was her brother’s best friend and her childhood crush. As tempting as a sugar-coated beignet, Jason is one dish she can’t afford to taste. Colby can’t wait to leave the place where her distrust of love and commitment originated and go back to Vegas.

Fire captain Jason Landry isn’t looking for love, either. Disillusioned by his past, he knows he should be focusing on finding the perfect mother for his daughter. But when he first sees Colby, all grown up and gorgeous, he can’t help but be drawn to her. And when she suggests a no-strings-attached fling, Jason can’t say no.

As their relationship grows more intense, Colby finds that Jason isn’t as easy to leave behind as she thought. Could turning up the heat on something real be worth the possibility of getting burned?

CRUSH

My first crush was in the fourth grade, or somewhere around there. I actually had a diary I kept back then but unfortunately it was destroyed so I no longer have it. I actually had my first crush after my first kiss. Yes, I know way to do things backwards. My first kiss was by my mom’s best friend’s son named Tanner*. Now Tanner was one of my best friends. He came over to my house almost every Thursday since his mom and my mom scrapbooked. I could go into plenty of details about this first kiss but I am pretty sure we are supposed to be talking about the crushing part.

Tanner and I are around the same age, he is actually 7 months young than me. At this point of time we were also in the same grade, which was fourth grade. As many people know kissing always stirs up feelings and well I know entertained the thought that I had feelings for one of my best friends. To be completely honest I really did have a crush on Tanner but that kiss confused the heck out of my little kid brain. I didn’t know exactly how to feel about it. Now days kissing isn’t treated like it is a big deal but to me it kind of is. I’m not going to randomly kiss someone because they are expecting it, I want to kiss someone because I feel something towards them.

My first crush lasted for a long time but once Tanner and I were in middle school, our friendship started to disappear and we didn’t hang out or talked much. Eventually we moved on. I still see him from time to time now and we catch up sometimes but all the good memories are left in the past. Tanner and I made a promise as kids that neither one of us kept but it is always cute to remember it. Our promise was that we would be each other’s first boyfriend and girlfriend as soon as we were old enough. We were just kids things change so much when you grow up.
